Teddy Bear's Picnic

Did you know that July 10th is Teddy Bear’s Picnic Day? Here are some fun ways to celebrate with your teddy using some elements of our First Steps in Music classes:

Is Teddy ready? Let’s check while we do a little tickle:
Round and round the garden
Like a teddy bear
One step, two step
Tickle you under there
Draw circles on teddy’s foot or tummy, then get ready to tickle under teddy’s arms!

Now, let’s get some delicious popcorn ready while we go for a bounce:
You put the oil in the pot 
and you let it get hot
You put the popcorn in
And you start to grin
Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, POP!
Your little one will love being the ‘grown-up’ and taking teddy for a bounce on their knees. Don’t forget to lift the teddy up high on the word ‘pop’

And how about some delicious tea. We can keep the beat using our cups as we wait for the kettle to boil
I’m a little teapot, short and stout
Here is my handle, here is my spout
When I get all steamed up, then I shout
Tip me over, pour me out

Next, it’s time to get all dressed up in our finest clothes as we sing our simple song:
There she goes, there she goes
All dressed up in her Sunday clothes

Now we are all ready, it’s time for the party to begin! Let’s warm up our bodies by helping Teddy with the actions to our simple circle song:
Teddy bear, teddy bear, turn around
Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the ground
Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch your nose
Teddy bear, teddy bear, dance on your toes
Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch your head
Teddy bear, teddy bear, go to bed

Now you can help your Teddy dance to some of your music - you can help them Keep the Beat by bouncing them on your knee, on the ground or around the room!

Your Teddy must be so exhausted after all of that dancing, let’s rock them to sleep as we sing a little lullaby:
