Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas!

Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas!

It's been Christmas time in the shops for months, but now that it is December, even I can't deny that Christmas really is just around the corner...

Here is the chimney
Here is the top
Open the lid
And out Santa pops
”Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas”

Finger plays are full of wonder and imagination and pack a serious educational punch. Here are a few things your little bluebird is developing when having fun with finger plays:

  1. Form and expression - All great music has artistic qualities and finger plays introduce the young child to the world of form and expression. Every phrase has a unique movement that goes along with the melody or rhyme.
  2. Language development – Finger plays offer little people opportunities to learn new words and vocabulary in a way that is fun. It is especially helpful to the child who is learning a second language.
  3. Following directions - Finger plays teach children to listen carefully and pay attention.
  4. Fine motor skills - By exercising their fingers and hands children are developing their fine motor skills without even knowing it.
