Reading changes you, shapes you and grows you.
There’s so many resources that you can give your children to support them into adulthood and a love of reading is right up there.
There are a few really practical things that reading does for children as they grow, such as - expanding their vocabulary, stimulating their imagination, educating them, and increasing their attention span.
Reading also holds the possibility of strenghtening the bond between you and your child in that shared space and time you spend with books, as well as potentially growing your child’s love of books and reading.
… and then, there’s a whole other world of what reading can offer your child, both now and into the future.
Reading can be a place to escape to when everyday situations are hard and you need a break.
It can be a place for growing your perspective, challenging your bias, and deepening empathy. It is a powerful place to learn about and grow in understanding and connection both of yourself, and others.
Reading can bring joy, deep relaxation and calm. Readers sleep better and have lower stress levels than non-readers!
And on top of all that, there’s so many beautiful books and stories out there, that reading is just so enjoyable. Pop along to your local library and take home something fabulous and life changing this week.
Here’s a few of our other posts about reading.
