A cafe morning

Winter is a great time to be creative and have fun with your little ones. Here’s one small piece of inspiration that hopefully sparks some ideas for you.

It’s a simple one; a bush cafe!

A few things to prepare …

  • You can gather up some bits and pieces, including baskets, bowls, teapots, cups and plates.

  • Fill these containers with found objects; - shells, stones, flowers, sticks, pine cones and banksia pods.

  • Now you are ready to set up a little cafe for the morning (or afternoon!)

You might like to work on a cafe sign with your children, thinking of a name, painting and/or drawing the design together, pricing items and talking about how you will serve them to your customers.

Serve pretend cups of tea (or small cups of water) to each other and sell ‘snacks’ to your visitors. These visitors may have come from as far away as the toy corner in the lounge room, or even further - the local op shop! They might be teddies, dolls or other toys.

You might like to find a tablecloth and set out a ‘table’ for service.

Enjoy playing ‘cafes’ for the day.

Here are some other ideas you might like to revisit this winter, from crafting to adventuring and everything in between!
