...it's a post about a Nature Walk, again (plus a free printable!)
It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s a real mood changer. Why wouldn’t there be another post saying how fabulous it is? If I could write every post to include a nature walk, I might just do that!
I think I would go as far as to say walking with my young children was literally life-changing. It became such a part of our routine, as much for me as for my children. Some of those walks were to the park or playgroup. Some were when my partner would arrive home from work, and we’d all set out, or I might pass those children over and head out by myself. It’s still what I look forward to starting and finishing the day with.
There are definitely good and fabulous things to do at home, baking together, reading, playing games, setting up pretend cafes, making music and all those good things, and then, there’s stepping outside and the feeling that comes with fresh air, limitless sky, puddles that beckon, interesting smells, and so many curious things to observe and wonder about. It doesn’t have to be long or in a special place; just some time together outside.
Today’s millionth post about a nature walk includes a little something that you can use to set up a treasure hunt or scavenger hunt as you go. You can find this sheet below to print and offer some direction to your walk, in a sort-of open-ended way.
You can print it off (the local library is always good, if you don’t have a printer at home) for little hands to carry as you set off to find some new and magical things.
Here are a few examples of items you might find that are ‘spotty’, ‘curled-up’, ‘blue’, ‘fuzzy’, ‘stripey’ & ‘magical’ - I’m sure there are many other fabulous things to discover and appreciate that fall into the different categories!
