Nature Prints using watercolours

This is a fun and beautiful activity to do any day of the week.

As we hit August, the sun is beginning to reappear and the garden is offering up some spring-like colours. Welcome some of those colours into your house by doing a little garden gathering!

Gum leaves, wattle branches, clover, calendula, and broccoli leaves are making an appearance and are perfect for this printing activity.

Having a forage through the garden with your little one/s, or doing some collecting on a walk around the block will provide you with a range of textures, patterns and shapes.

Other Materials you’ll need.

  1. Water

  2. Paints

  3. Paper - watercolour paper if you have it.

  4. Brushes, water droppers, syringes

Start by;

  • Mixing up some paint and water with your little one.

  • Lay out some paper together and cover it with your foraged leaves and grasses.

  • With paint brushes or water droppers, add your paint generously.

  • Add extra colours and enjoy mixing them all together.

  • Leave the leaves, grasses and other bits and pieces on your paper until it is dry.

  • Peel them off and find your masterpieces underneath!
