Petal power

Petal power

There are pops of colour appearing throughout my garden at the moment, bright pops of colour catch my eye as I walk around my neighbourhood and brighten up my local park. The lovely, somewhat unpredictable, Victorian Spring has arrived and is now really announcing herself.

Today we collected some bits and pieces on our morning walk: petals and seedpods, leaves and gumnuts, sticks and buds. Once home I scattered them onto a white sheet of paper. Our challenge was… how many funny faces can we make?

Creating simple faces with objects is a lot like drawing, inviting many learning concepts that are later tackled with a pencil… things like shape, symmetry, proportion and size. How many eyes do we have? Where does a nose go? How would this face hear us talking? What makes this face look happy?… sad?… cross?

Making faces from objects is a simple, fun and creative learning experience. Easy to set up, and so easy to pack up. Give it a try today!
